Curtis Engineering Ltd, a RIDBA corporate member from Frome in Somerset, have recently fixed over 1,000 EUROSIX fully compressed fibre cement roofing sheets for grain trader Wessex Grain, also located in Somerset, which will increase storage capacity by 23,000 tonnes and allow upgrades for the handling, control and monitoring systems.

The additional storage capacity allows two new 2,000 tonne silos, two new 1,000 tonne silos and a new 17,000 tonne flat store which brings the facility’s total overall capacity to 70,000 tonnes. Upgrades on conveyors and elevators along with new loading bins and a new bulk out-loading facility together with new cleaners are now all in place to support the 120 tonnes per hour throughput. This project was part financed with funds secured from the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) delivered by the South West of England Regional Development Agency with DEFRA being the managing authority.

Curtis Engineering were working to a tight schedule on this project and their experience of Grain Storage facility buildings was a great advantage to them and Wessex Grain. Briarwood Products Ltd were able to work with and support Curtis Engineering with their stock demands to site as and when required which enabled this large project to run smoothly throughout.

EUROSIX fibre cement sheeting is a fully compressed material produced to UK quality control system BS EN ISO 9002 and meets all the requirements of BS EN 494 class C1X, non fragile Class C in accordance with ACR (M) 001:2005 third edition and also covered with a BBA Certification.
